    Guadalupe Porras Ayusois a Spanish female match official who officiates for matches in Spain. She was born in Badajoz, Spain, and grew up there. At 33 years old, the Spanish damsel has officiated various matches in the local leagues and was the first female assistant referee to take part in a la Liga match.

    As a kid born in Badajoz, Spain she spent all of her time growing up there and picked up the career of officiating as a dream. At that time, female officials were not used for matches, but that didn’t stop her from focusing.

    Guadalupe Porras started arbitration at age 16 and after serving a single season in Third Division, promoted to Second Division B, where she refereed for eight seasons. After her promotion to Second Division A, where she has remained for two other campaigns, she has now been promoted to First Division.

    Earlier in Porras’ career, she officiated for eight seasons in Segunda B, the third division in Spain. She was constituent and very accurate with her decisions, earning praises from news outlets in Spain like “Marca” and others.

    Journey to Stardom

    Porras’ gradual rise to being a star wasn’t so swift as she did not have full support from family members and also was the first female to officiate a la Liga match in Spain. There were times she felt discouraged by the way things were being done but she took it as a challenge and today her dreams have become reality

    After working for eight seasons Segunda B (men’s division), she worked for a further two years in the Segunda men’s division. Her consistency and accuracy earned her a promotion to la Liga Santander, thus making her the first female to officiate a la Liga match.

    She will be the first woman to debut in the highest category of professional men’s soccer in Spain and will take over from Marisa Villa, the current head of women’s arbitration of the Technical Referees Committee, who reached the same category but did not debut due to the physical requirements demanded.

    International Career

    Porras has been involved in various international games right from the women’s U19 Championship match between Sweden’s U19 and Belgium’s U19 in 2016. She went on to officiate in other national games as well like the Women World cup Qualifiers in 2017 and other friendly matches. Her international career is blossoming at the moment and you can bet she still has her eyes on higher levels.

    Special Recognition

    On December 4, 2019, more than 300 people attended the II annual refereeing gala, held in the Ciudad del Fútbol, headquarters of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, in which the FIFA rosettes were presented to the 41 Spanish international referees. football, futsal, and beach soccer.
