Nnamdi Collins Biography

    Nnamdi Collins was born in Dusseldorf, Germany on January 4th, 2004. He has Nigerian roots. Collins began his footballing education at Fortuna Dusseldorf before joining Dortmund as a 12-year-old in 2016. Having always been tall for his age, Collins was trained up to play at the heart of the defense – a role in which he has gone onto thrive. At just 16 years old, Collins stands at 6’1″ and can reportedly run 30 metres in only 3.8 seconds. Clearly, pace and power is therefore a crucial component of his game. However, according to Talent Hunter, the right-footed defender likes to advance with the ball from the back, is confident in possession, and is a threat from set-pieces. Collins has also been noted for his ability when in possession, with many marking him out as the perfect model of a modern central defender. “Nnamdi’s speed is his greatest weapon, In combination with his good technique, he has an extraordinary style of play. He is not the classic central defender. Despite his size, he is also a really good footballer” – Patrick Fritsch.

    Early Career and Club Career

    Collins joined the Dusseldorf academy at a very young age. However, he moved to Borrusia Dortmund Youth team in 2016, and Borrusia Dortmund’s U17 team in 2019. He will complete a move to Borussia Dortmund U19 soon.

    Nnamdi Collins plays for the German club, Dortmund U-17 side. He has made four starts and has contributed very well in the defense of the team. He presently has four goals and one assist so far for his club this season.

    International Career

    Collins plays for the German U-17 team. A news report from The Daily Post newspaper reads, “Pharrell Nnamdi Collins, a Nigerian, has been included in Germany’s Under-16 national team squad as reported by All Nigeria Soccer on Thursday. Collins was named in coach, Michael Prus’s 20-man squad to face Finland in an international friendly match on October 9 and October 12”.
