    Pervis Estupiñán’ Early Career

Pervis Estupinan is a player that could become a target for big clubs soon. Currently, at Osasuna in La Liga, the left-back has been loaned out by Watford. Strangely, this isn’t the first time the Hornets have sent him out on a temporary deal. This is his fifth loan deal and this is perhaps, his best one so far.

He had joined Watford from Ecuadorian club LDU Quito in the summer of 2016. He’s not made a single first-team appearance for them since, having spent five seasons on loan in Spain. The first two loan stints came at Granada. The one in the 2017-18 campaign came at Almeria and the next one came at Mallorca.

    Pervis Estupiñán’ Club Career

Born in Esmeraldas, Estupiñán joined LDU Quito’s youth setup in 2011, aged 13. He was promoted to the first team ahead of the 2015 season and made his professional debut on 1 February of that year by starting in a 1–0 home win against El Nacional.

An undisputed starter for the club, Estupiñán was sold to Premier League club Watford on 29 July 2016, being immediately loaned to Granada CF and assigned to the latter’s B-team in Segunda División B.

    Pervis Estupiñán in Osasuna

Pervis EstupiñánThe Watford Observer says Estupinan is poised for another loan move away from Watford to Osasuna, it has been reported in Spain.

The 21-year-old left-back spent this season at Mallorca and scored three goals in a total of 24 appearances to date, including the defeat to La Coruna in the promotion play-offs.

    International Career

    Pervis Estupiñán

He made his debut for the Ecuador national football team on 13 October 2019 in a friendly against Argentina that ended in 1–6 loss by Ecuador.

    What are Estupiñán’s strengths?

Osasuna was only promoted last season, along with Estupiñán’s previous side Mallorca. Estupiñán has flourished in a side whose commitment to attack has seen them average the sixth most on-target shots (4) per 90 this season.

Estupiñán is the perfect fit full-back who likes to rampage up and down the left. A prolific dribbler ranks third in LaLiga for completed take-on by a left-back. What is interesting, though, is Estupiñán comes out on top among LaLiga left-backs for interceptions which points a strong ability to read the game and time his interventions.

    What are Estupiñán’s weaknesses?

For a relatively inexperienced player, there aren’t many blots on Estupiñán’s copybook. However, his decision-making must improve if he is to fulfill his potential

On that basis, the Ecuadorian international is more likely to lose possession on a regular basis than his team-mates. Still, he could pick his moments better when passing or dribbling.

    What next??

With José Holebas out of contract at Watford this summer, it’s anticipated there’ll be a vacancy at left-back. However, Gino Pozzo – the club’s owner – is a shrewd operator. It’s hard to imagine him turning down big money for a player with 29 top-flight appearances to his name.
